With an initial fine art background, Rosie Holttum has always experimented with mixed medias through painting and drawing. Within her textiles practice she explore a range of experimental techniques and processes to portray her feelings and thoughts, often related to climate change or controversial topics. Over the past few years Holttum, has become passionate for helping to save the planet, due to the increasing concern and coverage from the media. Working mainly with scale and colour, Holttum uses scale to attempt to represent the size and impact of these issues. Holttum is always inspired by the use of colour, which enables her to translate daunting subjects into vibrant and contrasting textile art pieces; portraying a juxtaposition between meaning and the overall aesthetic.
